The Last of the Woad

The skeins of merino I dyed recently have turned into an Age of Brass and Steam Kerchief :-

and a hat :-

Not sure who these are for - maybe someone's Christmas present this year.  Any takers??

  1. The colour is wonderful and I love the kerchief. Growing and making dyestuffs is definitely on my list of things to do. Having finally made the move from years of apartments to a house with a garden, I'm up to my eyes in vegetables, and don't think I have room for dye crops here...but, next place...maybe!

    1. Thanks Kaz, and good luck in your new home. You could always grow some dye plants in pots if you don't have the space in your garden. Woad and madder will do well in pots, and don't forget onion skins. They can just be saved until you have enough and make a really lovely dye. Also you could collect from nature, i.e. berries, leaves, lichen etc.
Good that you have space for vegetables though!
